Geo Gun Marker

Google has a new app that allows anyone to mark the location of a gun owner.  It is very important that entries be correct.  Otherwise it will become a useless database.

Why would I list myself.Sounds like Google wants the list to sell to advertisers and the Government could tap into the list also.LOL!

Thats why you go by every walmart and mcdonalds, and every other place in town that there are 5 of and mark them as gun owners. The more useless the database, the quicker they'll discontinue the service so that people wont download the app just so they'll know who to rob so they can steal guns.

My thinking is reversed. I don't see any problem for criminals to get weapons of any kind, illegally anywhere. Hell, contact Obama and Holder, they will send you anything you want thru "Fast n Furious"

But, If I was a criminal breaking into a house while people are a sleep. I would like to know if they are armed. Maybe?? I should go next door!!!

ya, ok I got to say this app is sooooooooo wrong it's beyond belief that it should, would or could be disseminated to thousands of people with no checks and balances in place, there  has been listed here a bunch of reasons why it's a bad idea, even by Steve H, He posilated that it's a good idea because it would make criminals more likely to hit house that aren't marked, there by placing those people in jeopardy. On the other hand the concept that people could simply tag someone they don't like or have a issue with as being a gun owner let alone a potential unstable gun owner (lets face it, the guy that made the app in the first place, all but said as much, actually he did say that just in a different way. He said it's to mark people that "they deem “potentially unsafe”" who is they and what legal or other wise definition of "Potential Unsafe" is being used to justify that accusation?

No matter how you look at it this/that idea is a BAD idea and poorly thought out, presuming the person even thought about anything at all when they made the app. Now AGV's idea that everyone Wally world, Target, Bass Pro Shop along with others get tagged should that the app becomes useless is a good idea. ]

The point of the criminals NOT knowing where the guns are is to keep the odds of any one home being violently and viscously harmed invaded down and our insurance rates down at the same time. Think about this, someone wants a fire arm, they get and check this app, they go to that house they picked, but because someone tagged them simply to "Get Even" for some perceived slight, will be in much greater danger since when the bad guys invade that house and find no weapons the likely hood of them believing the people in that unarmed home actually have no firearms are not good and the owners and their families get subjected to a beat down until they tell the criminals where their nonexistent firearms are, but the criminals have already hurt the family up to an possibly crippling or killing family members in the process.

Hell for that matter every single LEO building should get tagged since in recent months there have been a number of LEO's using excessive force and or discharging their weapons without cause which in the eyes of the common person make them "potentially unsafe" simply by association. I took a great deal of pride in being a LEO and even now with all the ones tarnishing the rest of the honest and dedicated LEO's by their careless or criminal acts I am still proud of having been one and all the ones still serving now and in the future. Then adding in every single military person serving or retired that saw combat, hell those people alone count for the possibility of thousands if not tens of thousands of "potentially unsafe"firearms owners.

So where does this insane crap stop? People are going to if they aren't already, tagging people they don't like, criminals are making their shopping lists and checking them twice, hell the police can't even keep tract of all the child porn sex offenders and general criminal parolees, that have to register by law, as it is. Not to mention getting marking the wrong persons house just because they have similar names? Now we make them to have to go into a scene that can only raise the level of danger they may or may not face? How in any ones mind can that app be a good thing?
