BRNO Combo
« on: January 31, 2011, 07:29:51 PM »
The BRNO Combo has gone by a few names in its past
I have the SPR94 which is what it was called when Remington imported them
Twin triggered, brake action over / under
Mine is a 12 gauge shotgun above a .308 Win rifle below
The shotgun comes with full complement of chocks (to which I have added)
The Combo comes with open sites and a weaver rail for optics
The fit and finish is good and it’s a bit heavy, but makes for a very versatile field gun
All and all, a very nice addition to my collection
Shoot safe, all, Den S

Question: I have seen combos like that (shotgun on top and rifle underneath) called Drillings. Is your the same thing? A version/cousin of the Drillings or an entirely different style of weapon?

Actually, most Drillings I've seen are SXS double guns with a rifle under the rib (three barrels)
You can find a 12 g double or 12 g next to a 20 g with a 3006 or 30-30 below
Some very odd combos
Beautiful gun though
A lot of high end tooling
Most are custom ordered, one of a kind
And a hefty price tag to go with it (five digit $$$)
Way too much for my blood

The shotgun/rifle double is traditionally called a "Cape Gun" if it is side-by-side and "Combination Gun" if over/under.

The word "Drilling" comes from the German word for three: Drei.  The normal configuration is side-by-side shotgun with rifle underneath, but there are variations on the theme in just about any arrangement imaginable.  There are also "Vierlings", which have four barrels.
