Title: "Mousegunner"'s Pocket Auto Comparison Chart
Post by: GhostWarrior on February 10, 2012, 10:09:28 AM
http://mouseguns.com/PocketAutoComparison.pdf (http://mouseguns.com/PocketAutoComparison.pdf)

With thanks to another member lklawson for mentioning it and sending me this link so I could do this. And before anyone points out the obvious, yes I know there is not a single CZ anywhere on the chart. It really doesn't matter, when someone puts that/this kind of work into something for no other reason than to help others for no gain whatsoever, he or she deserves the Recognition for his or her contributions to shooting in general. And he was a genuinely a  nice guy.

Wow, that is nice work.  So what is the best small CZ carry gun?  Preferably in 9mm?

WOW! I can Not believe This question got missed! I am SO Sorry! I sincerely apologize truly.

Presuming you are still a member here and still want the answer, it's a tough one to answer. Mostly because CZ doesn't actually make small modern pistols in the category as those in the Mouse's Chart. The CA RAMI is small enough to hide fairly easily, it's a little on the blocky side but it can be put in some pockets, especially big jacket pockets. The P-01 is good but not that much of a pocket gun but easily concealable, as is the P-07 Duty. Then there is the Duo which is about as old as the 82's and the 52's somewhere in there. but it's a .32 some it doesn't meet the 9mm part of your question, Neither do the CZ 82 nor the CZ-83 the first being a 9mm x 18 Markov round and the second being a .380 round, but both of those you could hide in a pocket of a tux and most likely no one would ever notice.

Actually, truth be told, the size of the weapon has little to do with being able to conceal it as a CCW, which is what I think you were asking about when you said carry. CCW is a matter of wearing the right cloths for the weapon you want to carry. I used to way about half of what I do now when I was younger, and I carried a CZ 75 Pre-B 9mm, 24/7 more or less. It was my duty pistol, my combat pistol, my CCW pistol, Just a matter of how you dress, decides the style and size of the weapon you can carry. The whole point of CCW is that the weapon is Concealed!. if no one can tell you are wearing a pistol they you did your job correctly. Carrying a concealed weapon is not normally the primary charge or even a reason to stop. If you do it properly.

Again I am very sorry for not seeing this post since you put it up in Feb. I just don't allways get to every single board, and not a lot of folks know of the Mouse and his passion for "Mouse Guns" hence his nickname. So I'm thinking no one stopped  in here to look or passed it buy knowing they couldn't help and that someone else might. No excuse, It's on me as the Admin.

And N.D. yes this is working but apparently my brain wasn't, Welcome to our Forum, and I hope you get your answers or at least directed to where you can get them answered. We try believe it or not to answer everyone, somehow, And there are no stupid questions here, (at least regarding firearms and quit possibly a number of other weapons depending on the type and the question, so if you are unsure Please ask and we will do our best to answer it. Without putting you down, calling you names, flames wars or rudeness.

What can we do for you?

I carry my 75B, SP-01, or EAA Pro-Comp Carry .45 (which is the size of a P-07 and only mention because it is a premier CZ clone  ). I do wish CZ had a small 9mm, but I dress to conceal. I've found that an awesome shoulder holster conceals everything as long as I wear a button up. That said, after spending plenty of time with my CZ 83 and shooting a ton of reactive targets, I have plenty of faith in the .380 as a deterrent to criminal behavior. If it will tear up a bowling pin after going through a melon or two, it will make anyone who infringes upon my inalienable rights mighty unhappy...

I own both a CZ 82 and an 83.  They are both fine weapons but not really "pocket guns".  I carry the 82 IWB from time to time but when I think of a pocket gun I think of the one you throw in your pocket for a quick trip to the store or as a backup for a bigger gun.  After searching high and low and trying out quite a few, in my opinion, the very best gun for this particular niche is the Polish Army P-64.  It just gives me everything I want in a BUG and nothing I don't.  Of course everyone has to reach their own conclusions and some might opt for something like the Sig Sauer P238 and it is hard to find fault with that.  But a very reliable gun chambered in 9x18 Makarov which is all steel yet not overly heavy, shoots cheaper yet more capable ammunition, has an easily manipulated safety/decocker, is more accurate than the vast majority of shooters and comes in around $200 is very, very hard to beat.

Birds Away

I don't remember if I said Welcome to our Forum, yet so Welcome to our Forum! Glad to have you, and I also really like my 82's. If you have any questions regarding CZ, DW's. Brno's, And occasionally a different pistol (cause lets face it a Lot of our members have more than one make or model weapon), please feel free to ask, and as it looks like you know your weapons, if you can answer someones question that please do so. We do not limit who may answer questions here.We are all one big group of folks trying to learn and or help each other.

Glad you like the 82 so much and very Glad to have you as a member. Participate as much as you want to. Welcome again.

Just out of curreousty, your S/N is the same as CAGS, and their counter parts use to let everyone (mostly higher up) that the flight is in the air and all got there. The only other person I can think of are Missile Men, in a number of different places and capacities. Don't mind me, sometimes I just like to take a guess at someones S/N that I have a handle on (or more than not a Slippery Handle on)  you really do not need to answer.

Also thanks for the warm greetings.  I have been severely bitten by the CZ bug.  I hope I don't get cured.  I have a CZ 75B, a CZ 75 compact along with the 82 and 83.  I have previously owned the CZ p06, CZ p07, CZ 52 and CZ 70.  I have converted all of my 9mm and below to CZ from S&W third gens.  I still love my 457 and 4566 but I am hoping to own a CZ 97B in the near future.  I have always loved S&W third gens but have found that CZ gives the same reliability with a huge improvement in accuracy.  I am not a great shooter but CZs at least allow me to be adequate.  Thanks again for the welcome and I hope I can make a small contribution to you wonderful forum.  I think your forum is the nicest and most respectful I have seen so far.

I too would like to welcome you to our forum!! There are a great bunch of people here, especially Ghost Warrior, who is the person most directly responsible for my CZ "sickness". Several months ago I was looking to purchase my first pistol in 15 years, I was deciding between XDm, Taurus PT92, Ruger SP2022, when I ran across this forum. After handling a CZ 75B I was almost sold, so Ghost offered to allow me to shoot his CZ's and of course the rest is history.

I have never been a member of a forum thats members were so respectful and helpful, it is an amazing place and I'm a member of a number of forums...

Again welcome to our forum!!

Sweet so the second part of my guess was right! BooYa!. My brothers, mother and father, were all Navy, I was the black sheep and went to a different Drier group. We have a Military Board you should look at, and post if you wish. I don't think of it as a "See what I have done " like folks hang all over their office wall. I think of it as, a place for everyone to look and learn about the people that Served, fought, and or died doing the right thing. It not just Military it's for every last person that willing and voluntarily step up the the plate. And it's there so those folks are never forgotten as long as this forum, stays running.

Yes, you were absolutely correct.  Thanks to your folks and your brothers for their service.  I will definitely check out the military board, assuming I can find it, lol.  Enjoy your Mother's day and take care.

Good morning from the Pacific Northwet.
Just tried the link for the mousegun .pdf and discovered that it does NOT go where you expect it to. Apparently the page/site was moved or eliminated. Did anyone save a copy of this chart? It would be a real shame if it was lost. If anyone does have a copy would you please post it on the site?
Slainte,

Although this is a rather old link, I'd just like to register my vote for the P64 CZAK for pocket-carry. Every bit as "pocketable" as the S&W 642 which I used to carry.

Dang!  I had no idea that link went dead. I think (really bad idea when I do that, ask my friends and family) I actually saved a copy of it as a copy but finding it is the trick. I will send a note to my friend that told me about it and see if he has a copy or if he knows where we can find one. In the mean time, I'll look around myself.

Sorry for losing the link it was really great to look at it and learn some intresting things.

Old thread.  Just noticed that it's the old link and that link is dead.

Here's an updated chart by "Bobo."  It has many of the recent additions.  The only notable omission I could see is the Cobra Denali .380ACP pocket gun.  Because the chart has the other Cobra 380, I doubt that it was a deliberate omission.  Size is about the same from what I've read, but weight is, obviously, lower.

I love CZ, but as stated above, CZ doesn't really have a dog in this fight. Personally, I don't like plastic pocket guns. They are extremely snappy and certainly not the best for quick follow up shots. They mention the Sig P290, and I like Sig, but that's plastic too. I think the best gun in this category is the Sig P938. All metal, very concealable even with the "pinky" 7 round mag, and 7+1 capacity.

Fight?  What fight?  It's a comparison chart for interested parties intended as reference.

And CZ had classics in pocket gun size such as the Model 45 and the DUO

And, of course, the modern CZ92, which rumor had it they were toying with introducing to the U.S. in .32ACP

There are something like 12 or 14 guns listed in the .380 and .32 class on that chart which have the frame material as metal.

Not having a dog in the fight is simply a term that implies that CZ does not currently offer the subject matter. I'm sure you knew that. And yes, I was referring to modern production guns available now in the US. Since the thread is about comparisons,  I was pointing out an excellent firearm not specifically mentioned (and in my opinion, better than any on the chart). Thats all.

Nope.  Your intention really wasn't clear from the post.  I read it twice and still couldn't figure out what you were arguing about.  Seems that you really weren't intending to argue anyway.

Aw well, the vagaries of the written word.  It's why "legalese" exists.  :(

Good day to you Sir

Just wanted to say thank you very much for updating the thread and the Board/chart. I have the Duo, Mars, Singer, "Z", and the 50 and the 70's and they all are worthy pocket guns even the .25. If a shooter knows what he is doing and has the practice/skill level then even a .25 will do the job when push comes to shove. If that wasn't true then the wouldn't be so many folks dead from .22's. IMHO for whatever that's worth. I also have both the 82 and 83 and thought they are a tad on the big side they can and have fit in more than one pants pockets.

Always an honor to have you on Sir.
