Front sight size
« on: January 03, 2012, 04:30:40 PM »
Just got my SP-01 Tactical and put about 200 rounds through it, sweet gun!  The only thing I noticed is that it is sighted in perfectly at 15' but shoots low as you move out further.  CZ sells the Tritium front sight in 5.5mm, 6mm and 6.5mm.  If I want to zero the gun in at 25' or further, which sight do I need?  Thanks!

Right, thanks - so if I go to a 6 or 6.5mm what is the effect on sighting?

By changing to a taller front sight you will have to compensate by either adjusting the rear sight (raising it) or physically holding the rear sight higher. Without this adjustment your shots will group lower on the target.

For practical purposes a change of 1mm in the front blade will have little effect at normal pistol range. It may help the shooter achieve a better sight picture.

You do not state which ammo you are using.  The fastest will hit the lowest on the target (Boy is this going to stir things up !)  Try different weight bullets to find which matches the sights on your gun before you change the sights.

Great feedback, guys, thanks!  I'm shooting CCI Brass Blazer 115gm.  When I shoot the same ammo with my C75 Shadow Custom it is spot on at 15' and 25'.

The manual for the SP-01 Tactical says it is sighted in at 15'.  Based on the feedback here I guess I just need to get used to aiming slightly higher at 25'.  Any other advice?

Thanks, Perry

Try some heavier bullets and see where the point of impact is.
