Title: One gun only,, a 1911?
Post by: CZ-RAMI-2075 on November 04, 2012, 02:20:32 PM
I wonder if there is anyone out there that only owns a 1911, a DW .45 or 9mm?

I'd have to give creedence to the Dan Wesson GUARDIAN, but I don't know if it would be .45 ACP
or 9mm.

Light enough for extended carry ( a few ounces more than my RAMIs) but a full sized frame
for recoil control and standard  mags.

The only drawback on a DW or any 1911 is the price on them.

If I sold my current guns, I'd might come close to buying one.

It's nice to dream though")

was my only carry piece.

Very nice guns there.

I've did a bit of research and came to find out that the 9mm 1911s don't run as well
as the .45s, even if they are Dan Wessons.

Some guys are replacing recoil springs in Kimbers every 400-600 rounds.

I'd take more recoil out of a .45 for more reliability.

.38 Super guns sound nice but no ammo around here for feeding them.
.
The current Wish List gun for 2013 is the Dan Wesson GUARDIAN .45 ACP

with the CZ P-09 Duty 9mm as secondary.

I would agree that the 9mm 1911's do have a rep for feed issues, but I had a dream too. I bought a RIA Tactical 1911 9mm a year ago and although I did have some issues with it at 1st, it ran pretty well after it broke in. I later bought a Kimber Aegis II Pro 9mm. That gun never had a hiccup from the get go. about the only problem it would ever have(early on) was hand cycling the first round in. If you didn't slingshot it well enough, it may nose dive the round into the ramp, but that seem to be from new/stiff mags and went away also. The Kimber is one of my favorite guns and I've carried it for the last 8 months.

The Man in me says .45 all the way, but the little woman beside me says if it's a 9mm she would want to shoot it as well!

DWs are scarce right now at any price ..so the 9mm (grrrr.) Dan Wesson GUARDIAN will have to wait until next year.
