Love the Picture! Love the pistol! Can't say as I have ever seen anyone polish their rounds before. Think it helps with accuracy, since if they are cleaned all the way around they won't be overbalanced by tarnish and dust on one side more than the other?  J/K Could not pas that one up. They really do look great polished, and I'm figuring that you did that for the picture. Well done BTW. good balance, layout, symmetry?

Those are right-out-of-the-box Sellier & Bellot rounds in the pic... That's how they come!
I'm reloading 7.62x25's now and it's going pretty well... More fussy than .38's of course but it's do-able with a lot of patience.
Glad you like the pic... It's where two of my favorite hobbies merge.

Never saw Sellier & Bellot rounds before which is why I was surprised. I keep forgetting they still make ammunition for the 52's. I a have only ever used surplus, and I have enough of that for a while longer. Still great pics!

I had a strange experience with the Sellier and Belot ammo I used the other day. Had a misfire, and when I racked the slide, a primer fell out of the chamber... Bullet just fell apart... Very odd.

Actually Dan I think someone just said something about that very thing just within the last week. They had a lot more than one bad round. do a Forum search for the brand and see if I got the name correct. Guy was justifiably unamused. Sorry I would look also but I'm getting way past sick to my stomach. gotta go lay down. Freaking cataract!!

I guess this is the "Dan has too much spare time on his hands. Somehow..." thread...

Should have polished the blue, but I was too excited...

Those are 7.62x25, better known as the Tokarev. It's basically described as a necked-down .30 cal, and its ballistics are pretty incredible. Kind of like an older precursor to the .357 SIG.

Quote from Wikipedia...
The cartridge has an average muzzle velocity of around 442 metres per second (1,450 ft/s), and has about 544 joules (401 ft·lbf) of energy.
