Update on progress so far:

I ordered:
"New Style" bolt handle from CZ USA, part #40110.
"Weaver Adapter Rail" from CZ USA, part #19010.
Extra Magazines from Grab A Gun with FREE shipping!

I chose the Weaver rail adapter so that I can take my rifle to the local gun stores and be able to try out scopes there since I figure that most places will have rings that fit the weaver or picatinny mount probably more so than CZ specific rings.

Also, I am going to have to do a little sanding, the barrel is not completely free floating in this walnut stock.

Yes, I will take it outside with a better camera and take some pictures.

My modified bolt handle, weaver mount, and mags came in the mail yesterday.

I went to two gun stores today with the rifle. I have put on the CZ Weaver/Picatinny rail.

I tried medium height rings and the scope was pretty high.

I then tried some Leupold and Warne low height rings. They are .25" in height. I then put on 40, 42, and 50 mm scopes and all still cleared with room to spare.

Also, with the CZ modified bolt handle installed there was no interference with any scope I put on the rifle.

So, the options are wide open for a scope. I looked at Vortex, Leupold, Bushnell, Zeiss, Swarovski, and Nightforce.

No one had a Trijicon Accupoint.

I will say this, I should not have looked down the Nightforce with its illuminated reticle. It is nice.

The Vortex seems to be how Vizio is to HD TV's, lot's of the latest features at lesser prices.

So, the choices are not limited, the eye relief is not a problem, the only limit is reason and money.

If you have the cash to spare, get the nightforce 22 power with mil dot reticle and.1/8 inch adjustments. Insanity. Pure insanity.

I finally got the scope and quickly mounted it to see clearances and sight height to bore axis.
I am not pleased with it being 2" above the bore axis. I am going to try different rings.

So, I have had some time from work to get back to the task of getting rings for my CZ 527.

I decided to make some ring mounts to see how low I could get things and still clear.

Remember, I have the CZ modified bolt handle installed.
The scope is a Leupold VX-R 30mm tube with 40mm objective.

After doing this four times and allowing for error I estimate that a safe height is 15mm. I measured 15mm, 15mm, 14mm, and 12mm.
Granted the putty deformed some taking it off, I will stick with 15mm as an estimate.

I should have drawn the 15mm line from the center of the baseline, so the drawing is a little off. Don't let that throw you.

Leupold makes a set of medium scope rings just for the 527. Granted, they're $60 or more. Should fit the bolt handle.

I emailed Leupold to see if there rear ring has the lug that fits into the notch cut out on the CZ. They didn't reply. So, I just went to CZ USA and ordered the CZ rings.

Leupold responded today to my questions about their scope rings for the CZ 527. They said that one ring does have the lug to fit the notch on the CZ 527. FYI.
