Steel challenge last weekend
« on: October 13, 2014, 06:26:47 PM »
I went last weekend to the Volusia county gun club and shot the steel challenge there. I used my Kadet kit .22 mounted on my CZ 75B SA. This time I had 5 stovepipes and 2 happened on the last stage. It really killed my scores and made for a tough day. I think I'm going to order new recoil spring and guide and see what that does. This is getting very old very fast.....I love my CZ's but this stovepiping has been getting worse....Any other ideas?

I guess that is a possibility, but it has been doing this since I first got it. I think I'm just noticing it more because now I'm shooting it more...use to be I would shoot maybe 100 rds a month....now I'm shooting over 500 rds a month.....

Most likely it is the recoil spring. Using high velocity ammo would take care of it, but a reduced power spring would help with common ammo. Lower power springs also let the slide stay open longer so the shell has time to get out of the ejection port.  In addition to this, it'll throw the shell really far. Lol!

I'm using the Federal 40gr Match ammo I got from Ghost, which should be high velocity. I tried looking for a spring but CZ-USA only carries the factory spring. Which exact spring do you think I should get and where to buy it and for how much?
