If rear sight base overlaps the edge of slide
« on: March 12, 2011, 04:12:11 PM »
My CZ 75D PCR seems to be sighted in for me with the rear sight centered in dovetail. But I notice that if you have to adjust rear sight even a little bit your rear sight base will extend over the edge of slide. This is uncommon in my experience, as most pistols have a wider dovetail base in the slide than sight dovetail.

So in the event I have to adjust the rear sight a bit and it extends over the edge of the slide what do you recommend? I am thinking solution is to remove rear sight and grind some of the base of rear sight.

EEEEEEEKKKK! NOOOOO!

Don't grind on it! BAD BAD BAD!

If the sight is centered it should be dead on accurate, but since some people like to move them to accommodate their normal sight picture, its better for you to let it hang out a little bit on one side, than to grind it. If you ever resold it then that would definately take away from the value of the gun. Perhaps you could consider getting one of the adjustable rear sights, so that the sight base stayed centered, and you could adjust your sight picture as needed.
