Cz Bren 2 Pistol vs Scar 16
« on: December 13, 2018, 04:12:59 PM »
Howdy, Just recently picked up a Cz Bren 2 11" Pistol. Unfortunately I am unable to shoot it because it came to me missing the firing pin spring. Cz is great and shipping 1 to me. Does anyone here have both a Bren 2 and a Scar 16 that can give me their honest opinion on how the 2 stack up against each other. Im planning on selling my scar this weekend unless I hear of any issues I should be concerned with on the Bren 2. Dont know if Ill be able to go shoot the Bren 2 before Christmas and need some cash. Scar is a great weapon but the lack of pistol version and non reciprocating charging handle is frustrating to me. I called fn and they have no plan to release them to civilian market anytime soon or possibly will never release. The cz Bren 2 feels more balanced and very light compared to my scar. The Bren 2 has play in the stock adapter and between upper and lower. Ive spent alot of money on trigger, stock and charging handle to upgrade the scar and it is really a great rifle but if the Bren 2 is what I believe it is I will sell the scar, buy lots of ammo and never look back. Thanks a ton for any info you can share. Have a good one

I picked up a 14" 76239 bren 2 and me and my buddies took it and my 14" 5.56 bren 2 out to the west desert and put 500 rounds through each one. All 500 rounds from the 762x39 were silver bear. I had 1 double feed out of all 500. Other than that 1 failure it is awesome! Super accurate with light recoil. The 5.56 Bren 2 was 210 rounds of xm193, 230 rounds of 62 gr silver bear soft points and 60 rounds of 62 gr fusion msr bonded soft points. 0 malfunctions and super accurate. 1 1/2" 5 shot groups with nikon m223 3-12 bdc scope. All i can say is wow!!!! Destroys my Scar 16's. Im selling all of them. No weird recoil, reciprocating charging handle and its balanced better and lighter. My only complaints is the wobble in the stock/brace adapter and  I will fix that with a shim. No biggie. However I do have 1 big concern. Upon field stripping and cleaning I noticed an indentation on both trigger hammers where it is hitting the firing pin. Appears the firing pin metal is much harder than the steal in the trigger hammers. The hammer in the 762x39 was quite a bit deeper than the 5.56.  Man i love these better by far than my scars, m4a1, mk18, sig 556 xi, and so one. Soooooo Sweet Hope the triggers are not going to be an issue. Does anyone that has a bren 2 or an 805 have this issue?

I just talked to Randal at Cz and this is what he said "Good morning,

Those pictures appear normal and should not cause any functional issue with your firearm. We don’t have any pictures here to show you of the BREN 2 hammers, but attached is one of our Scorpion machine gun hammers that shows it has extreme wear even after many thousand rounds and still continues to function. The relative hardness of the hammer does not have any relation to functionality.

Thank you,

Randal

He also sent me a picture of a Scorpion trigger that had terrible galling on it and said it is 100% reliable.

Excellent. We ALL sometimes get a 'bit picky' when it comes to something that we may have use to save our lives. Good to get the EXPERTS info to help ease our minds.
