Title: 527 Carbine shells sticking...
Post by: flatpoint on October 03, 2013, 08:43:20 PM
Just picked it up, (new) last weekend...I put 60 rounds of Tulammo, (122 grn. steel case) through it. the bolt gets VERY hard to open after firing...not every round though. Does this rifle need to break in? Or does this sound like a more serious problem?

Scrub the chamber !  Try some other ammo.  It is hard to find ammo now, so the less desirable stuff seems to be what is available.

Standard wisdom seems to be, that steel cases leave some of their anti-corrosive coatings in the chamber and this can cause function issues and, in the case of the really cheap stuff (i.e. not Tula) actual corrosion. I suggest that you coat a brush with bore solvent and give the chamber a good scrub.

NB Did you scrub the chamber thoroughly before shooting?

Everything better now......After another 100 rounds, (And a serious cleaning), the rifle has loosened up a "Bit". And I'm happy with that! Great little rifle! :azn:

Excellent  . I originally intended to buy the 7.62 version but was persuaded to buy a .223 (subsequently traded for a new 452FS).
