And I very, very sincerely doubt that CZ wanted to keep it for re-sale, they don't play that way. However it is possible that it would have to be fixed at the factory and that is way easier said than done. Getting firearms into the US is a pain but getting them out is worse. Simply not cost effective in any size, shape, or form.
But if it is/was that bad, for legal issues they may not have been able to send your pistol back to you because the liability would be hugh, but if they did and you got a master gun smith to fix the problem, I for one, would like to know whom and how it was fixed. I rather liked those pistols myself but never owned one.
