Happy Birthday gunner69skmc! Hope it was a good time.

And also if you all don't mind to much I am going to gather you all together to say Welcome to our forum. I was very intrested in reading everything on this particular topic. I own a 550 UCS and the bolt gets stiff sometimes. But what I know about long guns you could scribe it on the head of a pin with a #2 pencile! (My collection and skill set is in small arms as in CZ pistols, SMG, and short barrely trench guns for clearing building and rooms. Any one that has been out with me when I had the 550 won't let me shoot it more than once (Like I said I keep having trouble with the bolt and I had no idea what why or who to ask, I just figured it was brand new only fired about 20 times and needed breaking it), and then they take it away.  I also generally don't check in on the Long Gun Boards becasue of that. But I'm really glad I picked today to do it.

All of you have been a big help and I am going to check on all of it. Thank you. when I normally welcome folks to our forum, I mention no question is stupid, nor will anyone make fun of you for asking and if you can answer someones question please feel free, but you all have allready done that and I am really happy to have folks like you all as members, and I look forward to checking in here more often.

Ghost Warrior,   I have some stuff that has worked for me in the past.   It is called Gun Butter and is used for smoothing up triggers and locking lugs.   You might want to try it.

If I remember correctly I bought mine off amazon and saved a little.   And yes,  I did have a great B'Day thanks.

LOL! Nothing wrong with your 550 UCS there GW. Just needed a liberal application of lube. Worked great for me and locked easily. I'm going to fire it again today, and try to get it locked in at 200 yards for you. I read the users manual for that nightforce scope and I'll ZEROLOCK it for you when I'm done, that way you can always return it to that zero without even having to fire a single round. Hopefully that ammo from Hornady gets here early and I can kill two birds with one stone.

Re: CZ550 Feed problems - ME TOO! :(

Hi All  - Just found this thread thanks to Google...I own 6 CZ's - mostly 452s but I just got a CZ550 in 6.5SE and am having the EXACT same issue described earlier in this thread -- intermittent but consistent failure to load - using factory or handloaded ammo well shorter than the chamber/magazine length of the rifle. And oddly too - a 3.12" COL round will chamber better than a 2.98COL round???!  Sometimes...

The rounds must not be entering the chamber straight on and the only thing responsible that I can imagine is the extractor claw.  Contacted CZ and they said "No way is it the extractor" send it in for inspection / repair 5 week no-shooting vacation.

More than frustrating. I described this thread to no avail...  In the hope that it is the extractor, I just contacted parts and they are sending me a FREE extractor. Hopefully it will be clearly and visibly different from the one now installed.

TO those who "polished the claw" - can you post any pics of what it should look like??. My claw seems very sharp but it doesn't cut cases to my knowledge.

thanks and wish me luck

Todd

Note that the 550 also came with two styles of followers.   One made of metal (I believe the 1st model) and one made of plastic.   If you follower is plastic you may try the metal follower to fix the problem.   I would definetly get me some gun butter, if I were you, and work the bolt about 100 times while watching porn oops I mean T.V.

Hello ....
Last post December .... cause I have returned my CZ 550 to the importer ... 2 months waiting !!!
I have got it last week ...
One of these gunsmiths has modified the lip of the  breech head. Now I can bolt the action with a cartridge, inside , marvellous ...
But .. but the manipulation of the action is always, not at all smooth !!
From time to time I feel as a jamming when I lock or unlock  it.

Chuck Hawks wrote about CZ 550 (9.3x62) American Kevlar tested

"This CZ/Brno Mauser is widely recognized as one of the world's great bolt actions, suitable for use in a dangerous game rifle, and the identical barreled action is used in the CZ Custom Shop Safari rifles. Unfortunately, the bolt rails of our test rifle evidenced machining marks that caused the bolt to hesitate when being closed if the operator did not push it exactly straight forward. This should have been corrected before the rifle left the factory. A similar problem was evident in the Custom Shop's Safari Classics Express rifle that we were reviewing at the same time, so the rough interior finish is not restricted to a single rifle."

[/size]Ideas will be welcome to correct this problem ....

You know there are a lot of long guns talked about here that aren't CZ 550 UCS in .308 rifles. ( I think? see previous post regarding my ability with anything bigger than an MP5 what ever and or a trench gun (12gauge shotgun, barely legal even for police VERY good for cleaning house and bldgs) I can make more boards to make things easier for folks to sort through for a specific long gun. I haven't made many boards for the same reason there are not a lot of DW's and or the CZ Shotgun line talked about, and I didn't want to clutter up the board with a lot of empty boards.

So with that in mind let me know what board I need to make for what particular long gun and I will try to move the posts here to those boards so folks can easily find them and not have to stumble around hoping to find the info they need.

BTW since we are apparently going to be having Boards now for assorted Long guns, we need a Moderator that is knowledgeable about assorted long guns and can keep this section organized. If you are interested let me know what you know on the subject and or experience. Mostly being a Mod is about keeping everyone polite to each other and seeing that the correct weapon is on the correct Board/topic, and generally keeping things from going too far off topic. And that includes myself.

And with that to everyone I have missed since the last time I looked in here I wish you all Welcome to our forum. I said “Our forum” as opposed to “the forum” because when all is said and done this entire thing is in fact OUR forum. Yours, mine everyone that comes here and posts and tries to help anyone and everyone with whatever they need answer to. If it was for our members and the people who they are this forum would not be any ones forum. So once again Welcome and thank you all for every bit of info and questions.
