Welcome to the forum and thank you for not only your service but for being a Patriot Guard Member.

I am also, and have been for over a year now, but financially I have not been able to participate in any escorts or rides. The only way I can do a part is by wearing my hat, t-shirt, and having the stickers on my car. I answer any and all questions I can about who and what the Patriot Guard is but I wish I could honor our vets by doing more. However RoadKing pointed out there is more to the PGR than going on an escort and everything helps. So now I don't feel quite so much like I am letting down my end of the deal.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your stay with us and I know we have great folks here vets and civilians all willing to help out each other when it comes to getting answers to questions about anything CZ. Thank you again for joining and your service.

DADDY DETT  Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your service. I'm new here myself. That's one nice thing about the Patriot Guard Riders, you do not have to ride a motorcycle,or be a Vet to be a member, All you have to do is be a Patriot. I've seen Patriot Guard members walk, bycicle,Electric wheelchair, and pushed, to missions to show there respect. Better group of people I have never met. I've been a member almost from the begining and I've seen people from as young  6 months to people in there 80's doing missions. Like I mentioned to GW if we all do a little a lot gets done, and it's all good.

I did my service from June,'43 to July,'46, including six months on the USS Enterprise CV(N)-6 during her last two battles. See CV-6.org

And again from '47 thru Feb. '52 serving 18 mos. on LST 742 off the coast of Korea, and gained two more battle stars.

Total, just eight years. Graduated PO1

What else can I say, but thank you Sir for your service.
I just did a ride down to the D-Day muesum in Bedford Va. this past weekend. It's really quite impressive.

There is an excellent aviation museum on the naval base at Pensacola, FL.  Should you ever visit it you'll find a fine display around a magnificent model of my ship on the balcony. There is another wonderful model on display at Oshkosh, WI.

The history of the ship itself is maintained at www.CV6.org

I have been to the PNAS and it was an incredible place. it was in the early 70's so I don't think I saw a museum but I do remember being shown a group of planes that were on exhibit. As for the PNAS and the Enterprise, well both of those I do know a bit about. I had a semiofficial tour of the Kennedy and I loved every second of being on board her.

And the Base was one of the biggest things I had seen up to that point or I thought so anyway. I think it was bigger than the San Diego base and 29 Palms. I mean for a Naval facility. Oh and the food there was great, I tried to snake a "doggy Bag" for the road but that dog didn't hunt.

But seriously, I have allways loved the Enterprise, (dang if I really know why truthfully since I was more of a ground huger than a swimmer, Maybe because of the Start Trek series but I was on/visiting that ship way before the first show ever aired)  and a couple of other US Navy Vessels, and she served with pride and distinction enough for any 2 ships active or retired.

Thank you!! Its funny, when we enrolled him in JROTC in middle school he said he was going to get himself kicked out of the class. We told him he better not and it turns out he ended up loving it! He was in ROTC for 5 years, was on the drill team and was eventually the drill team commander. We are extremely proud of him!!

I took him shooting a few times before he shipped out and the kid shoots pretty well. After a few tweaks he was shooting 3" groups......

He'll be coming home for Christmas as they are giving them 2 week break. I'll probably take him out a few times before he leaves again.....

Hey river rat!

Welcome to our forum! it's great to have another member and a Patriot Guard and new CZ owner here with us. I live in Orlando about 30 min.’s from chfields and we shoot together on a regular basis, Well when I'm up and around but I keep saying that will be more often and I guess I need to just quit feeling sorry and get off my butt.

Anyway other than just saying high and Welcome I would like to extend a offer for you to go with chfields and myself to the range (sometimes indoor sometimes outdoors) I also have a couple or so CZ's that you may not have been introduced to or even know about, I all most always bring at least 3 CZ's with me and enough mags to make it a day. You are way more than welcome to join us and use the pistols. And as a side note, chfields and I are trying to get a Hornady reloading press to work correctly (Our fault, not it's) so we can reload and save money we hope. You are welcome to join us in that also.

Oh ya, nearly forgot both my brothers (1 older one younger) were both in the Navy and did their 20. My older brother at one time drove the Ski Boat's for a time up and down the fun filled tourist attraction Mekong Delta, and my younger brother did everything up to an including being the "Captain" of a Swift Boat. Thank you, he missed that Charley Fox Trot Westmorland got us into, but he still saw action in other places for other reasons. I can Not say how Proud of them both, and Honored to be related to them.

Thanks for your Service to our Country and for standing in harm’s way enough though no one but a Patriot will thank you for it.

We also have our own "Wall of Honor" here and it is NOT a "look at me and who I know" board. It's there/here for the sole purpose that folks can list the people in their lives or family members that have stood in Harm's way no matter their occupation, or service. So that no one forgets especially if that person no longer has family to remember his or her sacrifice. So please feel free if you wish to log to it, not only for you but for your pals and family.
