Does anyone know what material the CZ 40B slide is made of?

Thanks for the info. On the Hakan Pek website, he has a nice 40B finished in some kind of satin/bright aluminum/stainless look. I like that and was wondering how easy it would be to replicate.

If it's bright, then it would be either matte stainless or hard-chromed 4140 carbon steel. This STI is hard-chromed 4140 steel. Hard chrome is plated over the finished surface: IE: if the finish is to be polished, then it would polished before hard-chrome, if it's matte/satin, then it would be brushed before hard-chrome. Any surface features will show through the thin hard-chrome plating although it is one of the most durable finishes available. Hard-chromed steel would be ferrous (magnetic), whereas stainless may or may not stick a magnet depending on the amount of chromium in the alloy. Chromium also adds hardness to the alloy.
